I found this car in 1993 while visiting family in Hayden Idaho. The owner was good friends with my family up there but did not want to sell the car. He was the second owner, bought car in 1968 and it has been off the road since 1974. The attached pictures of the car sitting in the weeds was the way it looked in 1993. Recently the owner passed away and one of the children contacted me to see if I would be interested in buying the car. after a price was negotiated the wife and kids packed up the truck and car trailer and drove to Hayden Idaho from Gilroy Ca. the trip took 18hrs. We loaded up the car and visited with family for the rest of the day and then drove back to Gilroy the following day. A fun long trip and I finally got this 55 in my garage! The body, engine and pan are matching numbers. all pieces match up very well and considering the amount of time it sat there is only rust at battery tray.

Once I got the car on the trailer I realized it had 356 Porsche drums and wheels!

It is missing right rear tail light and correct front seats which will be a pain to find. Interior is still in good shape. VDO gauges are dated.

Engine has an external oil kit on it drilled into generator stand like Porsche?

That was a standard bypass oil filter setup. It's not uncommon to find or at least a case that has a tapped hole on the generator stand. I have a '53 case with a fitting on the left side instead of the front.

This engine must have had one at one point.

Score! Looks like a solid car. The 356 brakes were a great upgrade. Is that interior color green? Original color?

Removing the Porsche breaks. Going to install OEM set up. I need drums and complete backing plates if anyone has them for sale contact me. Also if anyone is interested in the 356A brakes contact me. I have the 36hp out and going to get it rebuilt. Here is a pic of the orange color coming off. The original Reed Green is going to have nice patina.

Rebuilt original to the car 36hp. Many thanks to Matthew at BugParts.com in Paso Robles for the rebuild and a great experience!
