So we moved the Body in the bay. Baby steps. Had to have four of us to move it safely.

Love the home brew paint booth. I have been trying to figure something like this out that I could use to keep dust and paint all over to a minimum and the wife happy. |

We will initially use it as a sand blasting booth but it will later turn into a paint booth. I can do almost anything if I have the facilities and the tools. Tools I can barrow or buy but facilities are hard. _________________ "Sic Vic Pacem, Para bellum - Pray for peace, prepare for war."

So we finished the booth. We found if we do this again we would put the plastic on the inside of the frame. It allows for the sand to fall the ground and not build up on the wood. It would take a couple of pieces of wood in the top to do it but it doable. _________________ "Sic Vic Pacem, Para bellum - Pray for peace, prepare for war."

I will suggest you put a fan on the backside of your "booth " that will blow air through and out the garage door .
The fine dust and the paint WILL go EVERYWHERE unless you guide it out..so the paint fumes aren't being pulled through the electric fan (fire hazard ).the fan has to be pushing out through the booth .
It took a month to get the paint dust off everything in the garage when I did this wrong 15 years ago _________________ 63 two fold rag

I will do that. Good point. My son was worried about paint and the motor and I had simply not put much thought into it. We will cut a hole in the back and mount a box fan on the outside blowing in. We will open the garage door a little at the bottom and air will flow out. _________________ "Sic Vic Pacem, Para bellum - Pray for peace, prepare for war."

So we started to sand blast. We have also been using fine grain grinder and sander to get through the body paint. As you have seen the pain is amazingly thick. Pictures to come. _________________ "Sic Vic Pacem, Para bellum - Pray for peace, prepare for war."

Well, hopefully the many layers of paint acted as a preservative!

I think it may have protected it, that bare metal looks pretty clean so far! _________________ "A rolling bus gathers no rust." |

Great job. I like the booth looks like you have some room in it. What are the dimensions? |

Here are some pics of the sand blasting and the grinding we have done in the last week or so.
Flash makes the grinding look worst than it is.

Taking big steps now as my son continues to sand blast. I have begun to replace the rear end. We plan on making the rear panel removable to make engine swaps easier. We have all the metal to do it and the tools now to get the measurements right.

Starting the real work now that I have it ready. Note all the measurements I have written on the side.
