Good job getting moving again.
How about moving your photobucket pictures to theSamba gallery so we can see them. |

Work is slow going today. It's a balmy 98 degrees right now. Feels like 103 with only 35% humidity. This is why I usually do these during the winter months
It is what it is though. My wife works until 6 am this week so she is still sleeping. So with that in mind I decided to start around 11am. Cleared all the stored crap out of the car, aired up the two flat tires and pushed her in the garage.
Removed the hood and began un-bolting the body from the pan. Gas tank out
Clearly, this body has never been removed from the pan. The only two bolts that haven't fought me are the two forward body mount bolts at the axle beam. Almost every pan bolt on the driver's side has broken.. I've left a puddle of sweat on the floor. I'm ready to break out the big kahuna and use air on the remaining bolts, but need to wait until my bride wakes up.
Whilst I wait for sleeping beauty I'm going to research choke cable removal from the dash. And rehydrate...a lot and tell myself "this is worth it...this is worth it." _________________ My father's 1970 Beetle-

Yesterday, I cut out the driver's side pan. Followed that by drilling out the spot welds on the remnants of that pan. I can't touch this pan without getting filthy, so this morning I dropped by Lowe's and bought a pressure washer. I needed one anyway for the driveway and the house, but it really came in handy for this project. I sprayed every square inch of that pan front to back!
My daughter assisted with putting it up on its side
Grabbed my sander and put some frame primer on the bottom.
Followed by high temp primer in gray for the welding that is coming up
Put her back down on all fours and ground the spot welds smooth.
Placed the pans back on and they fit much better today.
Parked her back in the garage and then took a shower. I think all the grease on the pan ended up on me. But at least the pan is clean now. _________________ My father's 1970 Beetle-

Totally stock right now. Thanks for the compliment. I'm happy to be finally working on it again, that's a fact. I had recently read about the lack of a sway bar and sure enough this one does not have that either.
Zirc on the e-brake cable
Another. They are at the frame horns
Inner tie rods
Outer tie rod. Passenger side is identical
Transaxle number is A1700020 which is some point in April or May 1958. Cool! Considering the delivery date was 28 May 1958, I'd say it's original to the car! _________________ My father's 1970 Beetle-
