I said I drove home with three. I figured the pushrod part was assumed. Let me edit that part for you.

Sorry to hear of the latest update! I'm hoping a Samba person in the area can help you get it repaired and on the road to home soon. You've had such an epic adventure and that old bus has been good to you.
I'm very glad you've taken the time to update this thread. I've really enjoyed it (except the roll over and latest issue).
Here's hoping you get the engine fixed quickly! _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

I'd call it a win, regardless of the oil puddle. _________________ nothing |

You have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of, you've pulled off an epic trip most of us only dream experiencing and to call a tow truck a few miles from home is just a minor speedbump in the big picture, well done! (That goes for both you and the bus!). (oh yeah....., Frankie too ) _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Hey, great trip..sometimes the tow truck is just a part of the journey (better than the impound lot!!). You may become a stock nazi after the failures from high dollar aftermarket parts/big cc engines. 1500 sp w/ cool running, fat OG pistons/jugs sure deliver the smiles after 1000's of trouble free miles. Interstate travel is out of course...Best travel thread of 2014 by far. Thanks so much for sharing..your good at this! _________________ Fat chick owner/operator |

Nothing to be ashamed of at all. These trips have turns like this and yours has just had another chapter of fun. Hell with it, let AAA bring her home in a restful fashion, she has earned it. |

Considering all that you have done and seen, and the adventures (and mis-adventures) you have experienced, you have had one hell of an adventure. "If" it's an easy fix, then try to repair and drive home, but hell, I wouldn't be ashamed of loading the old girl onto a flatbed tow truck for the last piddly 263 miles home after all she's been through. Give her a ride, a little rest, fix her back up, and start planning your next wonderful adventures! You were obviously born to do this! And thanks so much for sharing the fun with us all!

Pete, my brother
I'm glad you made it so close to home before the bus driving part of your adventure came to a close.
You have travelled ten thousand miles, taken a thousand pictures, met hundreds of people.
You have had epic experiences that you will look back on and smile about decades from now.
You have captured the imagination of thousands of Sambanistas and had us rooting for you the whole way as we lived vicariously through you.
Frankie dog has had such a great go of it too.
You have nothing to hang your head about!
The final push back home to Detroit will just be an other part of the adventure!
You, my friend, get a standing ovation.

It's been great following your adventure, Pete. It's still a win by any definition. _________________ A man with any character at all must have enemies and places he is not welcome—in the end we are not only defined by our friends, but those aligned against us. |

The trip was a huge success, losing the engine is disappointing but in no way diminishes what you accomplished. Maybe you can swap a running motor in along the roadside and still drive those last couple of hundred miles? |
