working hours are so expensive. considering new replacement parts a paint job for a new late model wrecked car or all new paint might take from 20 to 50 hours.
a detailed paint job inside out on an early bus might take anywhere from 200 hours up. modern filler and paint and masking stuff will cause high cost also. painting a full resto vintage project will most probably be a pain in the a** for a professional paint service.it takes too long, they don't see money for weeks or months and when asking their full charging rate, the customer might kill them.... I estimate a thoroughly detailed paintjob (including sanding and filling and all the correct paint schemes for the interior, door frames etc.) for a BD window model at least to be 7000-15000$ at mild rate, or about roughly 10.000Euros _________________ Hotrods, Fords, Veedubs and Triumph Twins !

By the way, what can you tell me about this? I think it is quite interesting but not sure if it makes sense using it or not.

I hear your frustration in getting body work/painting done in Europe. There has been some sort of breakdown in providing those services that I also don't understand considering the unemployment. I have heard similar stories from classic car folks here. Maybe the new car repair mentality (snap in a new panel) has made older projects less appealing? In Italy most cars have the corners damaged, they don't seem to get repaired. Throw-away mentality?? It's odd. |
I have a friend who does body and paint for a living. These fender, bumper type insurance claims are much more profitable than restoration work. Just economics and what pays better. Plus restoration work is a hassle. |

HI,
I'm driving my bus with a stock 36hp engine and with the original gearbox and reduction boxes. It's a lot of fun but sometimes I would like to have a lit more power mainly do make longer trips. Also my wife is always complaining about the gearbox winning
What options do I have ? What's the best, easy and cheaper engine and gearbox swap without doing cutting or welding jobs? |
