Hi Thomas,
Yep, get it from WW, hell, get two! Or I know folks who have cut out that shape from a cereal box cardboard before WW came out with it. I think the WW material is a thick gasket material which will probably stand up to heat and oil better than a "Coco Puffs" gasket. But I like to support the better suppliers of vintage parts who step up and re-introduce the "no longer available" parts we all want. In fact I just placed a big order with them on Monday... good folks with good parts!

Try as you may, no matter how organized and thorough you are, you'll forget something... Ask me how I know this! At least you live near the source. When I screw up, I have to mail order more stuff in. If I lived in So Cal, I'd have a bunk set up at WW!

What is the cardboard for? |
It could be used for 2 things. 1), as a gasket to prevent oil from seeping out below the generator. 2) As a shim to get the proper tension on the fan belt (I know, i know....that's that the pulley shims are for) if the belt is too long _________________ 1947 Typ 11a

Hey is making the gasket with thin hard cardboard an option as a short term solution? ..Mine only concern is it the oil deteriorating the cardboard and getting plugged in the galleys... or should it be ok for a season...
Was going to order from WW this morning but having a hard time justifying $8.00 in shipping for a $1.00 part... And will order one from them eventually, as soon as I need some more parts from them justifying the shipping cost... _________________ ::: Slowoval ::: LaDawri Sebring ::: '61 Creampuff ::: Dust Storm '66 ::: |

Go to your local autoparts store...most sell gasket material in sheets.
Buy the material, trace the shape and cut it out. Use you favorite gasket sealant between the gasket and stand. |

No worries about it getting into the galleys. Put the label side down 😂 |
