I hadn't figure out the rear seats yet, so I welded in a bracket to mount a bar to. The Weld-in Bung at the bottom is for the rear seat belt.
It's not cardboard but NASA approve 2x4's. Just something to mount the $25 Miata seats to.
Speaking of seat brackets, I saw a new one that Brad is making for PRP, and it's on the gotta have list. I'll try to get a couple on order.
I got the column all done and the dash tub mounted today besides the yard work.

Coming right along David! I've been hibernating through the winter and haven't been on the Samba much. I caught up on your progress and pictures tonight. This will be one top notch buggy when done. Budget, who needs a stinkin' budget! _________________ Manxter #122

Time to come outside and do a photo shoot
And look the gas lifts are upside down.. If you can't do things 2 or 3 times it's not woth doing at all.
I spent a while trying to get the the gas lift to seat correctly, finally realized a little nut was inside.
Here's smiling at ya..

I think it was the big nut that was really the problem!
Your punch list is getting shorter. Driving this summer?

Measure 12 times.
If things don't look right just walk away and come back to it later and ask questions.
I've kinda slow lately, been working on a bar to hold the battery and oil cooler. Then on to the side bars and step. Got to play with the bender. Cool having the right tool and a bitch when you don't. _________________ dbsmith

Brad cut it out for me. Using heavier aluminum. I ended up sand blasting it and using a clear coat. The clear was a little thick so it spattered out of the gun and gave me a textured finish.
Don't thick you'll have room for a rack. The 2" lift gave me lots of room. But I'll help you build anything you want. Just come on by. _________________ dbsmith

I wanted to build a battery box, so got a little distracted and built a metal brake. Ya can't have too many tools.

Jim
Do you have pics of the filler neck?
And what did you use for the neck and cap? _________________ dbsmith
