It has been a long time since I have updated my build. It has been a long time since I have been able to work on it. Life has been crazy since April. But here I go again. here are a couple pictures. I got the seats mocked up now.
Finally starting the upper rear shock mounts.
October marked my one year point since I started the build. I got the fuel cell ordered today its going to be a couple weeks before its ready to ship. Part of the hurry up and wait game. Next on my list are axles. Need some input on them. I am measuring 20.25 from center cup to center cup at the closest point. I know you want to take .25 off that for the axle length but I don't see a 20in axle only seeing a 19.75. can I get away with .5in? It is going to be a short term setup. My goal right now is get it running with the VW motor and then upgrade to the ecotec and I also plan on switching to a micro stub or midboard setup. _________________ GO BIG OR GO HOME!!!!

I have some notes I made while searching VW axle sizes available from local autoparts stores. From my notes a part # 10939N is 19 7/8" which would put you pretty close. It's an Autozone part for $130 with a lifetime warantee so if you don't get around to upgrading right away you're OK. I assume you're running Type 2 CVs.
Hope that helps _________________ Brian H.

The cell fits nice back there and looks like it should give you some good range off road.
As far as the 930 CV's go... We are running German Lobro CV's with cromoly cages and we will be "Race Prepping" (polishing the races) them before final install. _________________ Cheers!

Thanks. It is probably a bit much at 22 gallons. Would rather have more fuel then not enough.
I'm stuck between two different cvs. Im a fan of the RCV product but not sure I want to pay the price tag on them. I will probably end up running the German lobros. I have heard some good things about them. _________________ GO BIG OR GO HOME!!!!

Howdy everyone
I Didn't realize how long its been since I have posted anything. I haven't worked on the bug much. It has spent a lot of time in the corner of the shop. Minus getting pulled out here and there for an hour. This last week I have really started working on it again. Started working on the electrical. Got it fired for the first time tonight in almost 3 and a half years. _________________ GO BIG OR GO HOME!!!!
