Thanks for the answers already. The links i had already seen (but they are old and is was looking for some more active info, like chris11.

To chriss i can make pictures of the table, but that will need to wait for springtime (bus is now in winter-sleep).

The bus is an original westy so-44 poptop, and it has number 157.

According to the OO of my so44, the dor top was an EXPENSIVE option.

My price list scans are here:

http://www.icantclick.org/gallery2/cars/buspics/66westy/so-44-pricelist-number57.jpg.html
http://www.icantclick.org/gallery2/cars/buspics/66westy/so-44-pricelist-number58.jpg.html

For the so42, #22, the "plastic (polyester) folding roof incl. two bunks)" was DM1500 in 1965...

For the so44, #24, it was DM1675. Oh, and dont forget the -), which is the reinforcement plates for the roof are an extra DM135...

The standard poptop was only DM375. The complete SO44 interior was DM2540 - so adding DM1675 to that was huge.

There a button above the picture in the gallery that will give you the full sized version - you can right-click and save that.

I'm in need of a table for my so - 44. Is the table top in a so - 44 the same as a so - 69?

I've only had my hands on an so69 table once, and it was before I got my so44 - definitely never had them side by side to compare. But that said, my gut feeling is that it will look different but will fit fine.

Wish I could find my table - it's buried so deep in storage that I haven't found it. Sigh.

looking at the so69 leg that greg has for sale - http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=976831

Looks pretty close. so44 would have the whiteish-grey colored metal parts (at least in my titian red / beige grey), not sure -which- color that is, instead of black. but they still make paint. and the table top that I can see looks like it would be really close to right (same problem with the metal hardware on the bottom, of course)
