I just got my first splitty yesterday. I bought the bus from my buddy Tom who got it from another friend of ours. It sat in a field in Nebraska for quite a while. The good news is that it is all there, the bad is that there was more rat shit and nests than you could shake a stick at.

Here are the initial pics. I made a tremendous amount of headway yesterday and am well on my way to getting her back on the road. My plan is to clean her up, lower her on a set of Fuchs that I used to have on my bug.

Nice find!

Now that the turds are gone, the smell of piss is in the air. I am going to try the vinegar/baking soda trick.

Damn Scott! That's a nice find! Cherish the blue floor mats.

I'm sure it's under control, but let me know if you need any help with that thing, metalwork, etc..

Congrats!

That's one nice original bus. Those mice knew class when they saw it. It's got the kick panels and middle seat. The window frames aren't even rusty. Is the rubber still supple? How many original miles? It looks like OG paint. Don't toss that manifold.

Hopefully the mice didn't eat your rocker like mine.

Holy mouse crap - the interior is in unbelievable condition! Of all the nasty rodent-infested interiors I've ever seen get cleaned out, that one has got to be about the nicest underneath the mess. Two things come to mind:

1. I apologize if this seems obvious, but be really careful when you remove the panels, as they may be super brittle despite their almost perfect appearance. Ask me how I know... Crying or Very sad

2. The pieces of DEEP SHAG beneath the rear seat and in the tool locker under the front seat must have been nastier than a mattress in a crack house...

Great find - congrats and keep the pics and updates coming, please!

Great find; Love those blue mats; Amazingly complete interior- very nice.

Glad to see you are protecting yourself from all the rodent action.

X2! I've never seen nicer! Normally the cargo door panels are fouled up beyond reconditioning.

Nice Bus!

I agree - most of those door panels are super nice, that interior is usually beat from the sun or age.

I wonder how the speedo glass got broken out, that seems weird for the overall condition of the bus.

X 5,000,000

Please accept the bus and "how it rolls" into your life. Disgracing the proper original bus by lowering it would be akin to you or me, putting on baggies, drooping em' off our asses so our crack showed, putting a gold cap on a tooth and hanging out at PeeWee Golf looking for new friends. This bus does not say: "What up bro", it says: "Howde friend". Please allow the bus to be who it is.

Nice score Scott (and Tom)!

Clearly, someone like you who tries to get out of paying a photo radar speeding ticket does not deserve such a solid project! lol

Cant wait to see it slammed and slipping on some chrome 22's. Cool

All the Nebraska Buskateers should be ashamed of themselves for missing this one.
