Went to buy a Bay window bus today, ended up buying this and getting a free bay window bus Very Happy .

Resto was started but then left sitting for 18 years. Came with 0 mile motor, and also has original engine included with a large amount of parts.

Found this little guy when I was pulling a couple buses out of the woods I recently acquired. Can anyone help me identify what it is (A or B) and approx year? I don't know much about these cars and not sure if it is worth saving. It looks like it has a sunroof. Thanks.

I don't know the exact year but the dash is pre-A so... Possible big money!

My guess is 1954.

Wow ok thanks Everett. So this may sound like a dumb question but is this thing worth saving/rescuing if I can talk my friend into selling it to me for a reasonable price? He has had people try to buy it in the past and knew it was worth more than they were offering and declined, but told me he knows I'll give it a good home and to make him an offer so I can take it home. I just don't know anything about these. This one is super rusty along the bottom and roof is pushed down a bit and the driver front has been hit but not too bad. Just seems to me it's beyond restoration and more of a parts donor possibly.

You need to buy that coupe. Carefully stabilize the structure and extract it from that location to your garage at home. ANY information that your friend has on the car, record it. Write down what he remembers; names, dates, stories etc. Get every scrap of paper out of the car and preserve it for forensic analysis later.

Ok thank you for the advice. I've never worked with these cars before and don't know anything about them, but have seen them at shows etc. Would $500 be a fair price for it? I think that is what I can possibly get it for. Remember the roof is dented down/crushed a bit and there is significant rust along the bottom 4"-6" of the car and it appears to be missing a majority of its parts and pieces including the engine, however he may have some stuff hidden somewhere else.

Yes, that is insanely dirt cheap.
I'm no expert but the door handles alone are probably worth that much.
Hopefully a Porsche guy will come in here and let you know what a total project like that is worth.

Under the front hood, in front of the gas tank.

$500 would be insulting. But good luck!

$500 could be a good price just for the outer door handle on the right side, as per your pix. Rolling Eyes

What's interesting is the boat sitting next to it appears to have a Florida registration on it. Definitely a great find and worth pulling out to restore. Keep us posted on what happens with it.
