I have '67 Panel and dog legs have 2 holes on the upper surface. Was there originally rubber plugs for the holes or not? Are they just for water drainage inside dog leg?

There were not any kind of plugs fitted and you must NOT block up those holes! They were put there to allow water to drain away through the dog legs.

If they get blocked the doglegs will rot out Sad

Mega wow what he said. There is also a drain hole that goes rearward from the dogleg into the B pillar, don't forget.

Didn't know about that. I have cleaned the small one on the backside near the b pillar but i didn't know there was a drain into the b pillar.

Good idea to hose the doglegs out from time to time.
There is a hole near the B-pillar where the water is going in. A lot of dirt came out of this bus, it's on the ground.

IIRC, the holes are in different places depending on age. They should match the location in the drain holes in the bottom of the front doors.

Impressive. Then, of course, the water comes out a paper punch size hole at the base of the B pillar on the outer skin just above the jack point.

damn nice work! the drain holes on buses are all over, you can even get the wurth multisprayer in the holes........as you draw out the wand head you spray in wax oil and as the solvent burns off the wax is leftover,so now water can ride over the wax instead of the metal....thereby fighting cancer!

Both outer and inner dog legs made of two pieces. Welded together.

1. Make paper pattern of original shape. Draw it to sheet metal.
2. Cut.
3. Bend edges by bead roller.
4. Shrink and strech where needed.
5. Fit to body and weld together.
6. Grind and lead joints.
Ready!

I made myself tens of repair panels for my panel.
Cargo cross members, bracies, outriggers, jack supports, pillar lower parts, battery trays, front end supports and skin, cabin floor corners, etc.

Virtanen: I'm beside myself- beautiful work!
Clara: I haven't voluntarily introduced that amount of water to any VW I've owned in the last 25 years!
