I pulled into starbucks and had to do a double take!
It looked like a giant oversized TypeII... I want one, it was beautiful! I had never seen one until today.

Any bus owners also have one of these things? _________________ 64 Type II

Er, not everything Mercedes made was beautiful. To each his own, I guess. _________________

I would agree that it's ugly... It reminds me of Ali Larter. So ugly you find it beautiful _________________ 64 Type II

Yeah, looks like a bus in a funhouse mirror. Notice the headlights? There the same as a bus. _________________ Formerly known in the forums as "OVALTEEN"

I have the same headlights on my DKW. I suspect that headlight assembly was an off-the-shelf part for many German auto manufacturers in the 50s and 60s. _________________

I think there is one sitting outside Port Angeles, WA, heading east. If I recall - when I was there 3 weeks ago. _________________ Even YOU can prevent FIRES!

it's from Estonia? or just schilling for an Estonian website?
I did find a camper version for sale. The interior looks less like a Westfalia and more like a Chris Craft: http://300sl.net/1962__0319_Camper.html _________________ Siglines don't hurt people: people hurt people. |

His bus does have curtains. They protected me from the prying eyes of neighbors whilst I was sleeping in it. _________________

Hey Homie, was it the blue and Grey one at Marconi and Fulton? I see it there all the time, it's in really nice condition
Tram, I seem to remember a westy meet in Europe, with one of these big sukkas all dressed up in westy gear. Was that an official option, or more likely something that someone went to westphalia and had it done? _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |

There were essentially no "official options" on these, except how many passengers you wanted seating for. And, even that was sometimes contracted out. I've seen Westfalia versions, too, and that's what I'm doing with mine, slowly but surely.
First thing I did was LOTS of sound deadening (still not enough; these suckers are LOUD at 62-65 MPH top speed!), then I ripped out the understuffed seats and replaced them with Mercedes S-class seats. There are seats for a driver and three passengers- the rest is for camping. But the queen- sized "Memory Foam" bed in the back is NICE for stretching out in on a trip. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.
