Wondering how the "collector" (exhaust tip) is designed inside?

No one seems to know?

I guess I have to see what's the outcome myself then. Wink

This is how I've built it so far.

That's probably gonna be pretty loud as it's configured right now. The inside of mine has two baffle plates rather than a straight through mesh option. Maybe a small disk inserted within the mesh "tube" sections would work. Something to chop up the exhaust flow and divert it to the other exit in some fashion. In on the left, hit the disk, chopped up a bit as it flows around the disk and exits through both of the holes, same for the right side. Just stagger the positioning of the plates, or bend them "V" shaped or ?.

Maybe that kinda thing? Maybe not. Either way, I LOVE your craftsmanship ! ! ! ! ! !

Although, if you're building resonators as opposed to mufflers, those are comin' out GREAT and tuned resonators might be just what's needed.

Not sure what the difference between muffler and resonator is? Mine will be filled with fiber around the perforated pipes and flow straight through as in this example:

I have talked to some 356 owners that have this type of exhausts and their have been like this.

Finally got myself out to the garage again with new welding gas. Cool
As I was out pretty late I didn't take the time to finish off all welds but had to leave them as in the pictures. You start to see the finished product though. Wink

Going real slow right now..

Got myself to the garage tonight though and got some work done.

Started fitting the upper halves of the mufflers and also made the final exhaust tip. Not yet welded them though

LOOKIN GOOD Cool

A freind of mine did a custom one for his '57 356 outlaw. He used something like steel wool for the packing in the mufflers.

Thanks. Cool

I bought glassfiber wool for Bike mufflers. Tested to expose some of it directly to a seam I welded and it didn't burn or anything so it will be good for these mufflers too. Wink

Thats Badass!!!

Is weight going to be a problem? It looks very light but is that going to cause a fulcrum point?

Will it need another mounting point to keep the weight off the heads?

Not sure if it does need any mountingpoint..

The ones posted above dont seem to have any either and those look even longer/heavier?

I've thought about making one support that bolts to the rear enginemount when that is bolted to the case.
