Wow, am I just way low on my perceived value of bays?

His New Hope is that someone will be crazy enough to give him that much for that poor thing.

At least he didn't bother us with a lot of pictures to see what we are bidding on.
With that bad metal on the lower windshield seal area, you can bet the front floor is not too good. Rear seems rather better, and even the sides. Half that would be about right. Motor, seats and A/C are pluses.

For your viewing pleasure: All this can be yours for just $6400! (Retail $9995)

http://www.dustyoldcars.com/1972-Volkswagon-Transp...63/5894867

"Interior/Body *Fair*"

You don't even have to pay extra for the spraypainted tires.
Custom lowered/adjustable steering column!
And what exactly is that bungee cord accomplishing?
At least it's got a nice clock.

I do give these guys at least a little credit for an abundance of clear, honest pictures. But...

I'm glad they have provided mugshots of the guys responsible for all that fine detailing.
WRT the steering column. Apparently they do not have any capable locksmiths in Nashua, or these guys just think it's easier to let the steering wheel loose and rewire the under dash to a generic ignition switch.
Actually the body is pretty good for a 1972 on the East coast. the bondo in the nose needs reattached. and the horrid repair on the driver's side and rear hatch needed attention some years back...
With $1000 worth of work it would be worth $3000.

I dunno, just looking at them, my gut says I don't think those guys have "worked" in years. Wink They are the sales team!

Not so much compared to what they pay for distinctive tag numbers in UK. (JUST the NUMBERS, mind you. Plates themselves are made by vendors.)
5000 -10000 pounds or more.
I guess somebody might have money in their budget for those.
Not me!

HUH? Damned near every bay is a walk thru. It's the 9 passenger that is rare.
there is now a pic of the engine and I believe it truly is a 914 engine. It appears to have dual 2 throat carbs, be they IDF's or Dellortos. And the top oil fill which is completely worthless in the bus. Anyone worth their salt can change over a 914 or 411/412 engine to a bus dipstick/oil fill, but you need to know how to drill holes and use a tap.

Yea wow, so many things wrong. They probably don't show the cabin interior on purpose.

But I don't know, maybe €27789 ($30758) is the going rate for a "good" westy in Holland where they are surely more rare.

There are interior pictures on the website

It's a nice bus. I can't say if this is overpriced in their market.

I saw, and a video too. It's not bad, even has the under dash AC which can be upgraded. And I guess the price on here is actually in USD$, so that seems like a good deal in Europe.

Don't forget to paint it sage green on the outside, and to install a mismatched cabinet inside.

I'm guessing if your the new Dutch owner, your mismatched bus with some questionable rubber seals, scary looking wiring, and sloppy upholstry is still the bees knees to everyone!

There are some VERY savvy Dutch bay window guys. Vincent Molenaar used to be on the type2.com list and he wrote the book about 68-70 Clippers.
I sold him all my NOS Champagne Edition II carpet and seat covers after I'd bought every thing left at VW of A for 5 cents on the dollar.
Hannover is pretty damned close to Amsterdam.
