Here's my new-to-me '63 bug:

It looks like it was basically a parts car and was totally stripped. So it needs pretty much everything. It will be a slow project, as I have a Honda 'cycle and a '62 single cab in the works...along with a million other things.

Plans are:
-Full Mulholland look, Metal flake orange paint, whale tail, turbo mirrors, wicked rake, tinted windows....
Just kidding. I'm gonna buff out the original beautiful Turkis and blend in some rust repair areas. Gonna drop it down a few inches...haven't decided what wheels yet. I might go stock wheels painted black w/whitewall tires. We'll see.
Today I just about got the body off the pan because the floors are totally gone. I'll post the progress as I go.

I think I have a rotted but complete turkis parts bug lined up for the interior, glass, a couple of fenders and misc. parts.

Suggestions on the wheels/tires are welcome.

Yessir, from Willeye. It passed through a few of my friends before it got to me.

It's definitely ready to join the Missouri Patina Brigade...

Are you coming through mid mo? What day? I haven't decided if I'm going or not, but my neighbor will be taking his SC.

On topic, I got the pan bolts out, ready to lift the body off. I only spun 5 captive nuts...should be fun dealing with those.
Is it the heater channels that have those welded in?

The bug!?!
It might ...might...be ready next year!!

If I go, I'll just ride with my neighbor (d-rick on here) in his Single Cab. I have work issues too, so I might not be able to make it. I'd like to, though..I've never been.

Probably should move this to the Mo/Kan members thread http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=250349&start=60

since I hate to hijack this thread (that bug above will be kick azz!!)

But, I am taking my MG 15 this year. Lots of stuff to do in Eureaka (did you go into town??!!)...hit me up via the MO/Kan thread or PM me if you guys want to hook up...we should be in your area around noon on Friday before the show if you want to cruize down deep.

Finally got started on the bug. Got the pan in my dungeon:
Not much floor left.

Got the floors stripped out, started fixing some rot on the tunnel.

Made a patch:

Just have to burn it in. There's a few more areas of rot I have to patch up, and I'll be ordering new floors soon, probably from WW.
As a disclaimer, this will not be a restore...just a quick and dirty fix up for a ratty daily driver. I don't plan on doing anything to pretty up the shell at all.
