PostPosted: Mon Apr 21, 2008 9:42 am    Post subject: Mouse Grey / Pearl White Buses Reply with quote

it seems that a few other color schemes have their own topic, so I think that it is time for mouse grey / pearl white to represent.

this delightful color scheme was introduced in april 1961, and carried on through the end of july 1964. so there are four model years which this color scheme was available, (just like turkis green / blue white). it is an interesting span of years and body styles, from dollar taillight buses all the way up into fat hatch buses.

mouse grey was available on four models (like most of your better two tone color schemes) so you could get a westy, a standard, a deluxe hardtop or a deluxe sunroof in mouse grey pearl white. since the color spanned the '64 model year body change, you could get a 15, a 23, a 13 or a 21 in mouse grey.

'61 mouse grey buses had the earlier style of paint, where the dash was painted the same as the lower body color. so for four months only, the buses had mouse grey dashes. so far, I have only heard of five mouse grey '61 buses, and all of them were european delivered. four tourist delivery buses, and one european market bus. I would sure love to hear or see of some more '61 mouse grey buses.

on the M-code plate, mouse grey/ pearl white is represented by one of the following codes depending on year, model and delivery market:
M GREY
M GRAU
MGR PW
431380
SK1022
523??? (someone with a late mouse grey westy please post up this code)

lets all post some photos of mouse grey buses.

here are a few standards that I have picked up over the last year or two: (all in "as found" condition)

Thanks for the post Lind, I'm digging these model/color specific, information based threads.

I think the Speedster would look good all mouse grey. May have to use a primer that color to see what it looks like.

Lind said at Kelly Park that he "will NEVER sell this bus". I can only recall him saying that about two other busses, the rolled deluxe and his mango bus.

There are a couple Mouse Grey 15-Windows out there as well.

I'm assuming someone jumped on the '62 walk-through 15 that was in the Classifieds last week:

I couldn't leave my bus out of this thread. Lind. Odd thing about this color scheme is for a long time I never liked mouse grey pearl white. It just looked boring-no color . But then over time it grew on me now it is my favorite color except mango is a great color too.
