Just rewatched "The World's Fastest Indian" with Anthony Hopkins. In it, Burt Munro is driven to the used car lot by Tina in a red and white sunroof beetle, circa 1960.

Great movie for gearheads.

Saw this last night. Excellent movie.

Just watched 'Christmas with the Kranks' - seen it many times, actually, but since I am in the VW family now, I notice more bug-like things - but at the end, Santa's sleigh is a an old VW Bug (60's model maybe?).

Ah, but wait, about ten minutes before the end, when DH is chasing Hal Holbrook (I think it's him) around SF- he drifts a corner wide in his Ford and absolutely pile drives a sea blue and white deluxe 13w on the side of the street. Funny as hell cause he blows it right out of the frame.

Not quite a TV sighting of VW, but certainly a VW reference! And one that maybe only one in a thousand got at the time.

I wonder how many viewers made the VW to KDF to Hogan's Heroes connection?

Back when it first aired, no. Being a six to eleven year old kid I would have never made the connection. After owning my first VW ten years later, you betcha I would have.
