I really like the A engines! They are wonderfully tough. Even the 1600 Normal with the dual Zenith NDIX 32mm Carbs would scream and peg it's Tac in a heartbeat.(1stGear, 2nd too) (dirt) Fun with a VW Trans. The A, nice little town car in the coupe. Porsche Trans for cruzzing on the open road. good running porsche 356a industrial engine Price: $4500 That's about what I have been spending on VW engines. If this one has been abused by the 4000 lb bus? Hard to say. The cranks and cams can break and there can be head problems but not always.

A Porsche racer, shop owner since the 60's summed it up perfectly for me:

A 912/SC/356 motor is a 36hp bottom end with 100 HP heads.

Naturally, he races 911's.

Humm, nah, not buying that! But I think you can use the 74mm porsche crank to stroke a 64mm 36 horse.

Denny's 63'
356 gauges, Empi steering wheel, 356 brakes and wheels, and the coolest old raised white lettered Firestone tires...oh, and a 4-cam.
As he said, "It drives like a VW"......and it does. Wink
