My son has taken the lesson of ask for forgiveness, not permission. He has lusted after a Royal Enfield for years. Year after he got it he loaded the two saddlebags, tuned it and drove 1k MIles to college, on back roads, Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway in 3 days. 500 cc. Friend of ours from India was quite impressed.
I know deep in his heart he wants a proper English one

We had to go get the Vin verified and the guy at the garage said he could not show up via riding it...

Ha! Weeding.

Welp, it's been almost a year- what do you think of your Guzzi?

Was that Freud I heard in the distance?

I was able to ride the Goose in both February and March, but nothing yet in April. Weather has been acceptable (even hot!) but timing hasn't been right. Next week should work.

The Goose is an interesting ride. The torque is unreal. I installed the windshield which really helped with the wind pressure on my chest. My arms got really tired after a long run at 70MPH before the windshield.

I really need to put the stock exhaust back in place. This thing is way too loud for me. But that means re-jetting carbs and getting them synched up again. I can do the work, but time is valuable. So I just keep rolling along at high volume for now.

I get to see my uncle again in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to thanking him again, and letting him know how much fun I am having with his bike.

Thanks for asking...

Guzzis have that way of persuading the rider to overlook their faults through sheer charm and that's an attractive trait.
Really glad to hear you enjoy the machine.

This is mine, a mugly '78 V50 I blew apart a year or so back and reassembled w/ all manner of Suzuki, Honda, Ford, Kawa, Jawa and self-made goofball parts.
Boy, is it loud, so I share your pain/glee. I understand why the stock mufflers are, like, 5 feet long. Loud, but man, it sounds great.

I just swapped out the springs for Hagons and it now rides w/o that bike-hammers-its-way-up-your-behind sensation.
Not terribly fast but silly fun to ride nevertheless.

It's really nicely done, and as a BMW owner anything that puts the purists' noses out of joint is a good thing.
Also, it must be far easier and less expensive to keep operational than /2s tend to be, which is why I like my '60 conversion with an R75/5 motor so much.
Very cool car, too!

I agree! Purists are a funny lot. You hit the nail on the head. Apparently like you, I also like the period conversion stuff. Never ceases to amaze me when a died hard purist says his comments. Usually from a poorly informed mind set when they speak, of which they have no idea what was period correct back in the day.

Easier? Less expensive? BY FAR! No slingers! Electronic ignition and parts a plenty at a faction of the cost of /2 stuff.

It won't be the fastest build on the planet seeing as how I usually work 6 days a week but here are a few more pics of my BSA bobber build.

A homemade tank my buddy gave me, I dig it. I may weld a tube through it like the original BSA tanks did.

I'm going to mock it up with the stock stuff and see how it sits. I would like to put a 21" on the front and a springer front end. Cool

Welded up my frame and mocked it up as a roller to see how it sits. Right now its 2 1/4" higher in the front.

Cut out and old repair and patched it. Then I cut a new 2" hole to build a pocket for the stock bsa tank mount that goes through the tank, I've always liked that style. The local muffler shop gave me a scrap of 2" pipe and I used the plug I cut outalong with some 3/8" pipe to make the mount. I also figured out the tank is not homemade, It says paughco in the tunnel lol.

Need to make a spacer for the rear wheel and figure what forks I'm going to use
