You are entitled to your opinion, but you at least like the song thunder road, right?

I don't know how I missed this post! We have music on all the time...

Dave Matthews Band (all day everyday as well)
Martin Sexton (this guy is amazing)
Pearl Jam (even tho Jacob the 12 yr old doesn't like them or is his name Jeremy?)
Xavier Rudd
Tragically Hip
Steve Earle
Blue Rodeo
Paul Simon
Samantha Farrel
Skydiggers
and so on.....

Music is alot like people...we gravitate to what we like...I'd never be critical of anyone else's choice. It doesn't offend me...it just makes me gravitate in the other direction...

I'm 19. Why does having a personal opinion make me 12 years old? And I like eddie vedders solo stuff, like the soundtrack to Into the Wild, I just don't much like pearl jam. Also, thanks for mentioning martin sexton. I just searched youtube for him, and I saw a video from scrubs. I remember liking that song but not knowing who he was.

godam! This guy is amazing. His live stuff is awesome!!!

Jimi Hendrix Cover.

We all have opinions...it's how they are presented that matters. The shot at your age was in reference to another thread...just yanking the chain.

Enjoy Martin...he has passed Dave in status here for my wife after seeing him in Halifax. Amazing show if you ever get the chance.

We have seen DMB and PJ live as well and it's a toss up for me who's #1.

Cheers!

I found 2 AWESOME bands today.

The Bar Kays
George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic

The bar kays is the perfect music for driving a vanagon. Imagine seeing somebody cruise up in a vanagon, with this song blasting. Perfect entrance music.

that Leopard skin interiored vanagon just screams for some PFUNK! ah we got the funk, give up the funk... tho if George Clinton were to own the Mothership Van-oh-Gan he probably would need a built in crack pipe! I personally love GC and all his incarnations... seen him many a time!

Fugazi, Fugazi, and Fugazi. Did I mention Fugazi?

This song by The Velvet Underground goes really well with cruising around.

I just found out the band "Mother Hips" mentioned earlier in this thread is giving away free downloads of their first album this week only. This is perfect cruising music for road trips in your van, or just driving around town. If you haven't heard this awesome band now is your chance and its free. I have been a fan of this band for a lot of years now, they are awesome.

For the funk fans, the song in this vid is a great summer song to play loud in your van. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShFAeNdiEiA
Stop, Drop, Roll, by Can't Stop Won't Stop. Think they're out of Provo.

All the classics others mentioned are great. Also, mentioning Eddie Vedder's solo stuff reminded me, I often listen to Indio - Big Harvest in the van. That album has the original version of Eddie's "Big Hard Sun" cover and better IMHO. Great album if you can find it, I still have the original CD from '89.

I'm new to the PNW, so while I explore the area in my van, I often find myself listening to good regional folk-rock bands that have been coming up, like Head and the Heart, and Cave Singers from the Deschutes brewery film that features a Syncro. Seems to round out the whole vibe.

a quick one on geo Clinton--in 2003 I went on a casting call for audience at the fabulous forum entitled 'Funk Blast' where I sat with 400 other extras watching chaka and George and some dude named bootsie Collins in nothing but a diaper or some middle eastern hadjie/johnnie quest reference short wrap.
