I've dropped him an e-mail and we'll see. |

SketchUp has quite a few - cool little program I made that with it ^^^ you can make a model, fly around it and take a snapshot where ever you like. It was made to team with Google earth, getting the people to render their own houses and stuff. (Check building box in Google Earth program)
There are a lot of pre rendered VW's to use:
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/search?q=vw+bus&btnG=Search&styp=m
If you go to Google and check 3D Warehouse you can find some (about 12) VW's in the general models search. Then if you choose collections there are a whole bunch more.

Hi!
I get mail from Waldemar about this topic.
Model needs only finishing touches, don't have wipers etc.
but i have bad news, when i converting model, some polygons get lost, often in chamfers. jsSyncro, for what you will use model?
PS. Sorry for my english. |

I recently purchased 2 Revell Vanagon models(in my quest to be an uber vanagon nerd). One from ebay, and the other from the classifieds here. If a picture of just the vanagon (plastic) frame would help anyone, let me know, I'd be happy to take pics and pm them. fyi..... _________________ 1988 Vanagon GL - For Sale

hey kr3tz,
The reason I'm interested in Vanagon 3D models is
I'm going to be building a garage/workshop/studio.
I'm a computer animator who uses Maya so I'm prevising the
building in Maya and, I'm going to throw the model of the van
in to check out clearances, etc (I don't have much space for the
building).
Thanks for all the info everyone. It's been crazy lately but when
I finish up the modeling I'll post pics. _________________ ++++++++++++++

I am also interested in your model, if it can be exported in some common file format (.iges, .step, parasolid, etc.). I would use your model to play with some modification ideas (wheels, grills, paint schemes, etc.). If my work ever gets thermal modelling software, i would like to run some virtual wind tunnel tests to see how air flows around/through the van. That won't happen any time soon, though.
Very nice model, though!

p.s. your english is MUCH better than my polish. _________________ '84 Westy (first owner).......but my daily driver has pedals

A Volkswagen Vanagon is just a material thing,
As such, it is of the earth,
And if i need to, I can let my Van go. |

Google SketchUp is...free and the models are free...I built this building the stools the drive through and the espresso machine with the program. You can download it from Google - I assume anywhere in the world.
You can put the car (or vanagon) anywhere you want in the set. _________________ 1969 Ghia

My brother works for the Italian aerospace agency Cira and was one of the developers of software to do tunnel simulations. I could talk to him if we have a model. |

My daughter and I made up these VW vans as a fun time together and then had even more fun making up this little animation. Thanks for the links to the models. Cheers.

Anyway polish is not popular language
I can try to repair bugs and upload model as *.max or *.3ds. What about that? |

Nice stop motion. I caught myself watching it for like ten minutes. _________________ 1983.5 Westfalia Bostig RG1 |

Thanks. I bet you didn't even notice the subliminals. Thanks for the check, BTW.

This probably wouldn't work for your needs, but here's my interpretation of one I've been working on for fun. It's still a WIP.

Am I the only one that sees "3D printer" written all over this thread?
Much as I'd like to delve into this, I know it would just distract me from rebuilding the real one. Too bad.

Bringing up an old post here. I'm finally getting my head around working with 3d programs. Was wondering if anyone has links to any free 3d models of the vanagon. Not for commercial use here. I'm designing a space for a new home and want to make an area for working and restorating the van, and a parking lot that could convert into a quick camping setup for guests. |
