Axel The kind you spoke of for the very early KdF and part way through the war is called a scissors jack, just like most American cars of the day and was used by the very early Kuebels and Kdfs. When did they change to the Bilstein types with the round jack hole?

I believe this jack from above is for early 356 Porsche or very early type 3 VWs ?

Thanks. I thought possibly 356 also, but all the confirmed early 356 jacks seem to be Vigot still and have the smaller fixed arm like the split jacks pictured earlier. Could this possibly be a later version? I have two of them that came with a bunch of oval era stuff I got a few years ago and would like to figure out what they are. _________________ David S |

I once found this one for my early 1949.
I hope it is correct. Well, IŽll use it anyway.
I like the crank with the two transmissions.

The one below is from an early MB 170/220 spare parts list.

This type is typically offered as MB 170/220 jack as well.

here are some other early Mercedes jacks:
I sold one of those with the large triangular casting to a guy at Pomona and he seemed to think it was a type 3 but I still doubt that,
the 1950 to 1955 356 Porsche jack looks similar but not quite:

I dont think any of them had VW, Mercedes or Porsche logos on them, that is the problem, many of them are similar and were possibly made in different styles by the same or alternate suppliers having slightly different designs for the same model cars _________________ There is an idea of a Billmetric; some kind of abstraction. And after 03/52 , this model ?

As far as I know, that one is up to somewhere in '57.
Then '57-'65 is this one, slightly different:

There is one more in between those. the top one will have VIGOT on the base, up to '55 i belive. then same style without VIGOT to '57.

My Nov '54 jack has VIGOT cast into the base.
My Jan '55 was missing the jack, but the tool kit was still there!! _________________ Thanks,
