Thanks, my son didn't want a vw....his loss but I also have a Daddy's Girl. She's graduating from Cal Lutheran University and off to Grad School in the Midwest Case Western. I'm very proud of her. So I built her a fat Chick for Graduation:) |
That's great, what a wonderful graduation present! _________________ "A rolling bus gathers no rust." |

Greased the front end this morning and decided to replace the steering box oil seal while I was under there and greasy. I've had the seal for a year but having read the nightmare job some have had getting the pitman arm off, I wasn't looking forward to it.
I was pleasantly surprised. The arm slid straight off with a couple of turns on the puller. The hardest part was getting the old seal out.
No more leaks (from the front anyhow). _________________ Andy

Broke it again! I wish it was just a broken spring!
BTDT and it was really simple to just swap the spring for a new one. This happened on Monday April 25th. Wanting to still go camping, I swapped the engine with the Bug's one. Having really not much time to tear the engine apart before the Featherly campout, I just went ahead and bought heads and jugs at the swaps. NOW, after having taken the engine apart, found only a small mark on the #1 piston, meaning I did not really need them replaced.
Might as well do the jugs swap now! Anyway, this is how a dropped valve seat looks like:
The exhaust valve doesn't look pretty either!

Took her out to stretch her legs on a 250 mile round trip to an old friends house. He has a 44 Jeep Willy and we planned on a little drive together a la "Cars" but his clutch died. It was a good trip for my bus though.

Made the 64' kombi work!
Transporting Belgium malt from Dingemans to Heer van Oranje - Dutch Craft beer! Amazing how capable the kombi's are - even at this high age. Can hardly see on the weighbridge that she carries a significant cargo

Hung curtains in my 1967 SO42 but only after spending 2 hours cleaning mice house out from inside my back seat. Damn rodents! Curtains look nice.

Looks good Gary! I finally did some work on the so-35, pulled the engine to start cleaning everything and see if it will start.

Called & ordered a new tire for the '66 SC after a blow out @ 60 mph....
Plus I bought a NEW skinny tire to fit my spare, the one I had held air & had ok tread, it's just that it was 30+ years old
( skinny tire needed to fit the spare tire yoke, the 195's won't fit... _________________ Tom
