The best repop caps are from BBT in Belgium. I think many of the MWS/Empi versions are plastic for the alloy wheels and wll not fit steels. The BBT caps come with plastic bubble decals, but repop Empi GTV stickers come up for sale now and again. _________________ http://clemsblog.tumblr.com/ |

I have some! 4x 15x5.5 currently turning them round.
Top left had an enlarged valve hole that I had welded and redrilled.
Had them blasted and primed
I assume the "73" is the year??
I had thought that someone had ruined these with an angle grinder, it appears however that they're all like this!?

I have a stack of 7 of the 5.5x15 variety, 2 were peeled chrome that I blasted clean and primered, the rest are aged black and silver. Maybe next summer I'll find an 8th then pull the best to make a set for my 71 bug. I don't have photos at the moment since they're stashed away in the barn. _________________ R.I.P. Mom

All the ones I've seen look like that as well. _________________ On a lifelong mission to prove (much to my wife's dismay) that Immaturity is Forever!! |

My good buddy Todd gave me some tires to mount up on my 7" Sprint Stars.
Good ol' G60/15 Atlas Big Daddy bias plies that are almost like new. Some age cracking on the back sides but not bad. I won't drive on them as they are so old but will be cool for static displays.

Here's something cool. First year production (1966) wide 5 sprint stars all dated the same 9/66 and all 15x4.5s bought from the original owner. These wheels have been together for nearly 50 years and they are gonna stay together in my collection to be used on various vw's in my stable

I have always been a big fan of sprintstars. I have ran them on a couple of cars and will have a staggered set on my imp when I get around to building it.
My 66 had 4.5s and deep 5.5s and my 68 is running the same 4.5s but with the more shallow 5.5s

I just found this thread and thought I would share. 69 beetle with 5.5" 4 lug Sprint stars. I actually just looked this morning and found out they're originals made in West Germany.

Hi,
How can I paint the 4 lug wheels in black and gray. Which color goes first ?
And what are the original color references ? |
