Here's one vote against messing with your beautiful matching set...

Like I said I'm still thinking about it. I'd have to get a pretty narrow beam to fit them on the Ghia but I don't really like that much dish on the front, I'm going to mock them up as is and see what I think as soon as the weather improves.

Hi guys, It was a great surprise for me to discover that this post did not die at all but that someone kept posting pics.

I'd like to know if I can post some of them on the blog.

If you read pleae answer here (anyway I'm going to contact the owners of the pics via pm as well).

P.S. If you have pics of your Sprintstar-equipped car post them here or contact me at [email protected]

THnaks,

Enrico

They just use standard bolts, I ordered a chromed set for mine though. Unfortunately I'm selling my wheels but your post just reminded me I still have the bolts packed away!

I've used chromed aftermarket lug bolts, for both 4-bolt and 5-bolt Sprint Star fitments, and have never had a problem.

If, however, you might feel a bit more comfortable using your OEM VW lug bolts (which is where my head is at these days), you can also do that, and give them a "chrome look" with some plastic caps like the ones I purchased from this company: http://www.radusadirect.com/

(and no, I am not receiving any sort of commission!)

A set of four I just picked up to put on my Squareback. I want to re-chrome them, but I am finding prices to be insane. Anyone have any referrals for chroming?
Here are photos of them, they are 15x4.5.

So far, $250 each, just to re-chrome, doesn't include painting the insert areas. Waiting on 2 more quotes, one from TX and the other from CA.

Try Anthony at ISP West, he quoted me $250 a wheel for re-rimming, re-chroming and paint detail a couple of years ago.

Did he say if he did it at his shop or send out? Probably can get it done if I can find the right shop for less.

He had a guy at a local wheel manufacturing plant that did them for him.

Sprintstars are a great street wheel...and not too bad at the track. My 4.5's and 5.5's:

Neil's look better painted gray or whatever than chromed anyway! No future in chrome wheels!

Yes, we tried to match the original silver and black paint as closely as possible:

Thanks Neil, I was going to ask you for a closeup. I will be talking to my paint man this week and see if he can do it! Cool

I just found this thread. I'll add my 2 cents.

I used EMPI chromed Lug Bolts (http://www.empius.com/2010_catalog/empi2010_pg172.html), looked as close to original as I could find.

On the paint, I used VHT Wheel Paint and it has lasted really well (http://www.vhtpaint.com/wheelpaint.html). I used Chevy Rally Silver and Satin Black.

I don't have any pictures of just the wheels with me but I'll try to get a couple. Here's a picture of them on the car.
