Back at John's we had time for a few adjustments to the bus before flying home.
replaced the door window frame to door rubber with NOS
The profile is noticeable different.
After Greg was happier with the door top fit, we put the cab door panels back on:
This is the first time we had the full six piece cab set in this bus:
Here is the back cleared out of our road trip stuff:
set up for hanging out or one person sleeping, with the spring frames one atop the other

If you pull the lower spring frame out and put the two side by side, it's set up for two to sleep. It's like sleeping in a hammock.
Made sure the bus was tuned-up and oil changed and everything, in preparation for John driving it cross county.
Then we flew home to the land of Volcanos and Fjords.

So how many days did it take to cross? looks like you did it at a comfortable pace, checking out sites and so forth. My wife and I keep toying with the idea of doing the same, west coast to east and back, but not sure of how long it takes to do it in a bus. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

They left Philly July 3rd, and are I think somewhere in SE Montana right now. That is roughly 2000 miles. I am guessing, from MapQuest.
It is about 1000 more to get here. Add actual driving and that they are not taking the shortest route, but are also seeing some sights. ETA is Tuesday the 14th.
12 days are scheduled for the trip. So that averages a bit less than 300 miles per day.
Thanks Peter. :) We'll be taking it to the Vintage Meet next weekend. _________________ The Obsolete Air-Cooled Documentation Project http://oacdp.org/ |

I have some NOS bows but I'm noticing they are not very snug to the roof in the center.
Were the ends shimmed at the drip rail to fit snug in the middle at the highest point of the roofline??

#3 bow was fine to re-use. They usually are. It has the odd horizontal keyway.

used this to caulk the roof trim:
Greg squashed the aluminium trim in place carefully and firmly with the Knipex pliers and a piece of wood cushioning the jaw of the tool, while I tapped each nail in holding the trim through the roof panel into the bow:
holy smokes, it's installed:

Idaho lets you do it yourself. Oregon doesn't trust you to be able to figure it out.
