I as well as some of you love the effect mother nature has on old busses with factory paint. I have been amazed at what I have seen on various busses, color combos thru stages of patina. Personally one of my favorites is when a standard or deluxes upper color fades thru to the bottom color. One of my other favorites is when you can see how one side of the bus wears more than the other due to years of sitting in a certain direction. Anyways, I just wanted to give props to those who arent afraid to wear it worn. Not to get patina confused with laziness either. I think of it as a fine wine. It takes time.

From the Samba dictionary:
Patina - Refers to the unique visual design that results from an original paint vehicle where the paint has partially worn through to primer or bare metal over time.

That reminds me of when I was a kid. I had a .50 cal blackpowder rifle and a blackpowder revolver I used to shoot out at my uncle's land. There was a 63 Sundial out there. This was a few years before I knew anything about buses. Needless to say, that bus had a few holes in it after I got done. I didn't harm anything that wasn't junk already though. I went back a couple years ago to part the bus out and found holes in the windshields and nose. It was a rotten mess anyways, partially thanks to the few 50lb bags of SALT sitting in the cargo floor! The interior was rotten too. I still want to go back and pull the engine out of it though.

Hey flipseat, I still have the pic from when I found your bus about 5 years ago.

If it weren't for that accident, it would still look like that Crying or Very sad The paint was fading through on the top to the red below, and some primer was showing through the red on the bottom. The nasty dent in the front door, crease down the side, and torn off rear corner/bumper was too much though.

Scored this one is Sactown (now in Wash state). Can't wait to get this thing on the road. It came mostly complete, but as you can see, it is in the initial stages of being taken down....

So if you had the option of paint, would you leave it like this or get a nice new paint job? I can't decide either, and don't really want to take it all apart again later. I really like that old school OG look, but don't want to wish I had gotten it painted.

Going the dropped route with various goodies.

Thanks for your opinions....

I was told it came out of Colorado. Will have to ask Linda Fanucci aka Busciobatisti on that one Ronnie. Im almost positive its the same bus. Patina is like a fingerprint. No two are exactly the same! Laughing
