Hi guy's just curious to see how many of these racks are actually around. I know they are pretty rare and you either LOVE it or HATE it !!!! This one is on my old oval and I'm talking about the rack hanging over my rear window. I know of only 2 other's out there besides mine. If ya got one please post a picture I wanna check it out. I also want to see just how rare they really are ???? I still have the rack and it's on my 43 split now.

I know of that one. I forgot the guy's name but we met at one of the OCTO's last year when he saw me roll up with mine on the oval before I sold the oval. There's another one I saw in the hot VW's in New York on a 63 or 64 and he said he bought it new in 63. And that's all I've ever seen.

Wasn't there a split in the last UltraVw with one? Maybe that's the one 53Oval is talking about.

Yea, that was the split I was talking about. I just thumbed through my magazine, and it was just a shot of the roofrack and rear window, I couldn't see the taillights. It doesn't say the name of the owner though. Confused

Hey bro, These racks are built right !!!!! I used it for my swapmeets trips to pomona I had at one time packed it down with 5 rader rims 5 o.g. empi 5spokes and an oval clip on that rack alone when I got to Pomona everyone thought I was insane!!! and it held up just fine cruising down the 10 frwy at 70 MPH. I'll never sell that rack I'm sure my kids will when I keel over.

Man I wonder if the person who own's that rack would sell it I'm down for another one for my future 11G split. Can anyone hook me up with a phone# on that owner with the red super beetle?? I can't read the damn license plate too good. Thanks everyone for all the info. on the rack. I appreciate it.

Hi Mac, No that rack owned by drannon brown isn't real it's too big & the arms are stationary not like the real one where the arms are moving. The Jim Dandy racks are hard to copy because they have soooo many moving parts. The arms swivel in & out. I know the guy that made it! It was made by david payne the guy who owns my oval I first put the jim dandy rack on (my Empi Oval rag)He tried to copy it. I seen that one in person when I delivered the Oval to him in North Carolina. Good looking out though ! Thanks !

So is that one an original accessory or one that has been repopped in the same style as your one?
