My Dunebuggy hops bucks wildly in first gear... If I ease out the clutch she's fine (which kinda takes the fun out of it) Any Ideas?

Two things you need to look into:

(1) Check your clutch cabls boden tube. If you're lucky, that may be all you need to fix. But if it's been bucking wildly for awhile, it may have done some damage. So, also...

(2) Check your front trans mount.

Your transaxle mounts need replaced or maybe you broke the transaxle nosecone. You may also find the grommets in the spring plates needs replaced.

Thanks guys... I did mounts this spring..the front was obliterated. I get a little gear grind going into 2nd and I have to manipulate the coupling to get it into reverse so I'm thinking nose cone..

Anyone have experience doing one?

Yep pretty simple.... You have to remove engine.... Unbolt transaxle and move it back some.....Remove about 10 nuts off studs and remove nose cone... Move "hockey stick" to new nose cone and put new gasket in place and reassemble.....Not rocket science just dirty and time consuming.... If nose cone is broken, its because of bad front mount, replace it also....

Before you take the gearbox out did you try the easy thing first, the 'bow' in the Bowden tube?

That was my first thought . . .
Confirmed when I read "new Mounts"!

Ya GOTTA have enough "droop" in the Bowden tube or it will droop you!

Gear grind? If the shift-rod coupler is good, try adjusting yer shifter.
