So I've met the guy in person out in Ventura. He's a nice guy. He has this yard and warehouse full of parts out there in the dumpy part of town. He's an old surfer guy and he does not understand technology at all. He won't log on to a computer and he's never been on the samba. He's paranoid so Lewis isn't his real name and he pays some young buck to come post ads for him and respond to the email.
So my hypothesis is, he sets prices on things based on a feeling without looking at anything in the market and then he just waits until the prices catch up. Then the young buck goes in every week and renews the ads. Because there are things he's selling I won't even touch, but there are other things that are much more reasonable. I bought a PAIR of screw terminal tail lights from him for $40. Then I happened to ask him if he had a crank start rear apron. He pulled out a perfect apron with no rust and wanted $120. He's a hoot, that's for sure. _________________ - Chris

I'm pretty sure I've seen him at a S. CA swap meet before too as he was selling something NOS Bus I sort of wanted but I thought it was a little too much money.
I came home and looked on the site and found the same part on here and the bag and everything looked the same... except it was even more money.
People bitch about this guy in almost every Whine thread on the site but whenever I look at his ad contacts, he gets multiple emails about stuff pretty much every day so he has to be selling tons of stuff.
His parts do look super clean, I agree with that part of his signature:

My eyes, my eyes....
Looks like a '67 SO42/campmobile/Riviera going by the roof cut and reversing lights.... that's been gutted and passenger-ified (no I'm not sure that's a word either). |

This one is the best
Everyone jumps on the, "it's his bus he should do what he wants" bandwagon until they try to unload it. Then reality sets in. |

You can't post that "best" picture without posting the interior shot of the same, wonderful, "pop-up top."
I can't see how that top is even secured to the roof. Kinda looks like it's just sitting there. Given the schlock that this guy has offered in the past, it wouldn't surprise me if that's the case. |

It's held down with the same magic force that secures those racks to the gutters, special M code only available on surf buses so yes, very rare. And when you put your head below it and stand up it "pops up", duh! _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Spot on^^
I checked out the pics he posted on ebay and the "pop up top" appears to be hinged on the driver's side and, therefore, opens like a sub hatch. Still, there is no evidence of how to secure the top, nor is there evidence that the top is weather tight. That is one hack special. |

Doubt it's a real Westy and the interior kit looks to be from a bay window (so67).

Agree on some points.... curvy vs. square cabinet pulls look Bay-ish.
Fat ice box drawer (buy I only know SO-42 ones were thin)... so I don't really know much.
It has the square arm rest (vs. slanted, like bay) & this pic is posted in the ad....

Bays had sinks. This one doesn't. I think late 67 used those pulls, but not sure, the kit seems to fit too well to be modified bay. Odd that there are no louvered Windows but maybe that was a Euro delivery thing? _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

SO67 is a bay kit for sure.
Here is an SO67 ice box. You can see the top drawer is taller with the same strap for the door:
It would take some modifications but definitely possible to end up with what is seen in the slider bus. I think it does look like a nicely done camper, just may not be an actual Westy. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

In the pic of the headliner of the red/white bus you can see the metal track for the commercial board headliner on the side of the fresh air vent. It could have been a kombi or a Westy. The hole in the roof does not quite look the right shape, though. _________________ still driving the holy snot out of buses

The slider bus may not be a real westy, but I've always liked the idea of having the cargo door(s) on the same side as the driver. I would drive the piss out of that bus. Could it be a late 67 dealer installed Mosaic kit? _________________ still driving the holy snot out of buses |
