Hi,

I have T1 with engine # 5737259.
When I take a look at the chasse number it is 1099099.

According to tables chasse is from april 1963 and engine from 1961.
Is it possible that it was like that from factory?
Or somebody change the engine?

Thanks,
Bartul

Somebody changed it.

Can you tell us any details about your bus that may help de-code what M218 and M219 are?
Link to Gallery pics of your bus.
SK6030 is not in Samba list of paint colors. Is that the original color in the M code plate? I see some blue, orange and green on a scrape on the bulkhead... and a paint drip at the lower left corner of M code plate.

056 Steering/ignition lock
119 Eberspacher BN4 gas heater All except Ambulance
157 Pollution control/Exhaust emissions devices
208 Trailer hitch and electrical hook-up
218 ?
219 ?
386 North American equipment

I wonder if either of those two M codes have anything to do with the heavy amount of roof work that's been done to it.

Your engine number looks like a different font than the normal VW engine font so I think it's been stamped by an engine rebuilder.

The "new" paint and M-codes are exciting, I will add those to the lists as "unknown" and update them later if anything else can be discovered.

Here you go.

This is the picture of the Steering/ignition lock but somebody installed new lock above...

and this could be part of the additional equipment, maybe M218 or M219 - its a fan that is installed above fresh air duck cover...

i didn't see this anywhere on forum...

Ambulance Fan alone is M121
with Eberspacher heater is M151
Maybe with some other combination is possible?
Way to keep your eyes open!

Just a thought.. is that huge wing (side) mirror original, or aftermarket? They look wide enough to give a view past a trailer and the M codes say trailer hitch. Could M218 and M219 be other towing features like bigger mirrors?
