Yesterday was my birthday so I took my wife and son to Yosemite for the day. I was apprehensive about taking the trip in my 62 bug, but my wife convinced me to just go for it!

I'm happy to report that the trip went off without a hitch. I snapped a few pics on the way home.

Thanks guys!

Here's a cool update:

I filled up my gas tank tonight and found out I got 39.3 MPG on my trip! It was a 322 mile round trip. I topped off the tank before we left and made it back with just under 2 gallons left in the tank. Pretty good for such an old car.

I love Yosemite especially in an aircooled VW. Looks like you had a great time! We usually camp down in Lower Pines

Gorgeous bug in such a iconic beautiful setting, I just love Yosemite.

I wish I had the nerve to drive my bug on those twisty outside edge lanes in Yosemite, those drop offs kinda freak me out with 70+ old technology. Good for you.

Just a thought; they sell on Ebay repops of the old school vintage license plate 'month' decal stickers. They're reflectorized and look just like the originals. I've never had an issue with the law and gives my YOM plate that extra legit look.

Thanks for sharing your trip.
