I just bought a Thing for my wife and it has a 1776 engine. It has a mild cam and big valve heads. It currently has dual Kadron's on it. I don't like the way it accelerates when taking off from a stop light and from what I'm being told that is fairly common for these types of carbs. I am considering switching to dual 40 Webers. Is this a good idea? What are you opinions and also what is the best kit to get?
Here is the ones I am currently looking to buy.

Thank you for any help! |

Just did the 40 Webbers, And they were great out of the box!
they went on a 1914, with a little bigger than stock heads. |

The ICT's would be a step in the wrong direction, as they are 34mm vs the 40mm of the Kads.
Are you sure your Kads are adjusted/synced correctly? Verify your accelerator pump is working correctly, they are often out of adjustment and need to be shimmed. |

If you make the change you want 2 two barrel carbs. You already have 2 single barrel carbs on it now so you want the upgrade. John at Aircooled.net has a program where he will disassemble and clean/set the floats and jet according to your combination and elevation. That may be something you want to look into. |

I like my K-Dogs. They are reliable. The plenum based design makes them forgiving to meatheads like me...but they dont perform. You can spend a buck or two and send them to the Kady Shack...fix 'em up proper! I need a new motor and am looking at a single carb setup. _________________ "I haven't seen one of those since I was shootin' at 'em!" |

It sounds like something is wrong with your engine/carbs. Kadrons shouldn't behave that way.
I used dual Kads om my 1776cc w stock 040 heads and Engle W110 cam. It ran great always with good respons. It was strong as hell on low/mid rpm. However, above around 4500 rpm the engine wanted more than the carb could deliver.
I later did switch to dual 40DRLA with 32 mm venturies and did some porting. This really woke the engine up at higher rpm. However I did lose a little low end punch.
Good luck! _________________ __________________________________________ |

Last engine I tried to do the 110 34PICT carb combo on idled like dog poop. Did you have to jet it way up to get it to work? |
