I'm de-assembling my new Super that has got plenty of exterior surface rust. I plan on having most of the parts powder coated at some part in the future - but that is once everything is disassembled. Right now I am deassembling and trying to prevent rust from spreading on the car.

After I have cleaned a part of rust - what is the best way to 'store' it and minimize flash rust while it waits in my dry garage for a few months until I'm ready for everything?

I painted on Ospho with a cheap brush and didn't wipe it off. Kind of looks like wax when it dries.
The areas I coated this way(roof and quarters) show absolutely no signs of rust even though I stripped all the paint off about 2 years ago.

I second that! I put the Ospho in a spray bottle and sprayed everything once I got done with an area. Lots of good info in this thread too. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=8153187&highlight=#8153187
