it was very common in germany to replace the semaphores with side marker lights. The german TUV just told people they were illegal and had to go. Even though they were, and still are legal to have.

i can't read what it says in the picture, but this is KLM spelled out in Dutch
Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij N.V

Yes i know or royal dutch airlines in english but. Can read it as well.
Also they use there blue on all there aircrafts don't know if that was also like that on there cars.
