basically, if its for looks then you're fine. Just keep your sway bars, I dont know how a lifted super handles. As in 99% driven on the street.
If you want a class 11 look that you can have a lot of fun in, I would use a standard. I have driven mine pretty hard, far and deep with just lift spindles and indexing the rear. With the right tires too.
Also yea, start a new thread. _________________ Wash your hands

He as in me, the builder of the blue car? They're stock rims with black powdercoating.
Do you mean on the copper bug on the last page? Those are Baja or Marathon or whatever else they were called...

So the blue bug has stock rims just powdered black? I love the way that car sits. What size tires are on it? |

I would just like to commend you on your work on that baby blue rig. If I had the time and money that is exactly how I'd like my baja to turn out someday. Very nice. |

This is from the 1st page...

Tires are from PepBoys - Definity Dakota M/T, 235/75-15 on 4.5" rims. |
To add to that, they are stock VW rims that I had powdercoated, along with all of the other black stuff on the car. There are different off-sets available, so be careful, some may rub more than others. _________________ (ignore the X's ) |

Thank you surf. I actually went back and read the whole thread. Tires are 235 75 15 I think I read? I wasn't doing raised spindles so I'm pretty sure I can't go that big in front. I did put in adjusters though. With a smaller tire do I still need to worry about offset? If so, any idea how much? |

Hey Mr. Bill, Sure too bad VORRA couldn't do the Yerington 400 this year. Missed all you 11 guys. Hope they can compact their feces for the '15 season. Be Well, Ol' John _________________ Panic, Chaos and Disorder, My work here is done! |

I know this thread is old... but when I came across it, I just had to reply. KILLER job on this Class 11 inspired build. I keep looking at it and makes me want to build one just like it. Years ago I started to build a class 11 car, but sold it before I ever got to drive it. I might have to pick up where I left off then...
One question I have is how this car ( or anyones class 11 ) handles @ freeway speeds with this stance, height, and with the weight of the roof rack. Would long road trips be a white nuckled ride the whole way with the new COG?
Would you have done anything different if you were to build another Class 11 car like this? |

That's my car. It's the only VW that I miss...and I've had many.
The car was a blast to drive. The "COG" was NO issue. Set up like it was, I could fly down the freeway passing whoever I needed to. I drove it on a curvy road when I took it to work. No issues. The rack only weighed about 35 lbs, I think, so again, another non-issue.
There's another thread on the shop talk forums that has a little different/more information than what's here. I think the thread was the same name.
Build one!

I heard my car was sold again recently. Does anyone know what it looks like now? The guy I sold it to ruined it. _________________ (ignore the X's ) |
