I have a Squareback that I purchased, and it's composed of '68-'72 parts. Since the Floorpan is a '72, does that mean the front disc brake components will be '72? is there a way to distinguish between the years? This will be my first time doing brakes on a type III so any tips are appreciated. I'll load pics as I take them apart tonight.

You can't assume, since parts interchange and you already know you have a hybrid.

Front discs changed around late '71/early '72. The discs and pads got bigger. Before that I think all disc brakes were the same.

To distinguish them, check the distance between the centers of the two caliper mounting bolts. Earlies are 2-1/4" and lates are about 3".

Read up on how to rebuild calipers. There may also be a thread on the Type 4 forum. The parts are similar or in some cases identical. Jim Adney rebuilds them if you don't want to go inside the calipers.
