COOL I JKNEW YOUR NAME LOOKED FAMILIAR. WHEN I WAS RESEARCHING THESE AT FIRST AND "CABLES.COM.AU" TOLD ME HE WAS THE MANUFACTURER, (IMPLIED- WHICH YOU KNOW HE ISN'T). WHEN I FINALLY DID FIND THE FACTORY, I WONDERED WHERE THE T3 GHIA DESIGN CAME FROM (THERE NEVER WERE VW ONES). THEN I SAW A FORUM ONLINE POSTED ABOUT 2002-3 BY YOU WHERE YOU MENTIONED YOU HAD HIM MAKE THAT MODEL UP. COOL. BUT THEY STILL MAKE THEM, AND IARE IN THE PRODUCT LINE. JUST TOO BIG TO BUY ONE AT A TIME, AND THEY WON'T GO AIRMAIL. THERE are a lot more than 3 now. the ones you bought in that first order are not the nly ones that have "ever" been made, though. I have personally seen a couple - they turned out cool. |

What's the cheapest way to get blinds? Summer is around the corner and can't let the inside of my square get heat killed. I was thinking of taking measurements and having home depot make me some? Plus how will I install them and final question, will cops have anything to say about that? Thanks in advance. _________________ '71 VW Bay Window Deluxe Bus [Busness] sold

I think I've seen little blinds that don't go up and down just like you said, stationary. Uusally found in big houses on that little window that is hard to reach. By law you have to have at least one side mirror (driver) and a rear view. I don't have the passengers. _________________ '71 VW Bay Window Deluxe Bus [Busness] sold

Anyone know if these are still made by the same person ? No luck finding them on eBay. I'm looking for a set for a squareback.
Cheers

I'll let you know for sure. Nothing yet.
I'm thinking that I may just make my own out of wood since most of these were fixed blinds anyhow. Shouldn't be too difficult and could look nicer than the acrylic vintage ones.
I'll post some updates if / when I start that. |

Straight slats eh! looks a little nicer when they bend the slats at the outer uprights to follow the glass curvature. They are pretty cheap though.
A guy with a type 34 told me he contacted the guy from South Australia and asked him if he'd consider making a Type34 one. He said no problems. They still had the original jigs from when they made them many moons ago. He just said it had been many years since anyone had asked about them. _________________ Sydney, Australia.

Just an update that I never heard back from the guy in Australia that makes these. I'm going to make my own and see how they turn out.
Anyone know if plans exist for these? Specifically for a square?
Thanks |

Yabbadubba, I have to agree with you. After looking at these straight ones, I think they’d look nicer if they did hug the contour of the window. I’m sure if a pattern could be made with the support vertical pieces a little further out would lend itself support that shape. Thanks just my observation...I'd think there’d be a shop that could make some nice curved slats. I wonder how they’re held in place to the vertical support pieces?
JeeJeeJason, don’t know if plans do exist but would be a fun project! _________________ MonT3

So after 10 years I finally found the blinds I was so curious about for my first square.. I found these on Craigslist for $300 the reae was only used for a year and the sided were brand new still in their packaging.. these appear to be the original repop shades that were fading from production at the time I started looking..
