You should use high temperature paint, like what is used on stoves |

do i paint that NOS muffler or do i leave it as is?
and if yes with what type of paint? |
I've used tremclad Hi temp BBQ paint on mine. it usually lasts a couple years before I repaint, not because it peels, the black just turns grey and gets scruffy looking _________________ http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/jim_martin_engine_build.php

They were a gray/green gray color. Unfortunately, the paint VW used would burn off, and rust would take it's place. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Has anybody tried the Manifold Grey from POR-15? I'm considering for the heat shield parts of the exhaust and curious if it's heat resistant enough for the whole thing. _________________ Cheers, David

If you are using BBQ paint follow the directions on the can & it should last a couple of seasons. I say this because the tendency is to clean & paint, the temperature has to be correct for it to work. My old boss used to use old motor oil. Get the exhaust really hot & wipe the muffler with the oil dampened rag. It smokes a bit but leaves a dark look to the muffler. His 1909 Hudson muffler looks like new all year. _________________ I think he meant "rare", as in "not well-done" |

Damn fine looking parts!
Where did you find rubber for the diagonal arm bushings? I could only find red urethane a few years ago. |
