Better than a regular 61 up repro but the pressings still look a little "swollen" to me. |
Yeah, that is typical of many (but not all) repros, the "crispness" of rigidity pressings just isn't there. Also, some of the spot welds in the Autocraft apron look a little "hot" compared to the original, but that may just be the pic lighting.... _________________ John Henry

True, but how many pre 65 cars have you seen with the repro apron? The price of the autocraft apron would still make me use a 64 and earlier german part over a "correctish" looking aftermarket part.
I cant wait til gerson finishes his aprons so the competition brings down the price of that AC crap.
At least wolf aprons look and fit better, still pricey but more accurate. _________________ Grapes of Wrath $200 Engine Rebuild

after saving my pennies and selling my first born, i ordered a front apron and wheel well for my '57 yesterday.....$727usd out the door. i'm still feeling the pain. thanks to the samba members and their high marks about wolf and his products...the only reason i sprung for these parts. wolf was prompt in his emails, btw.
now i just need a rear apron and gerson's fenders..... _________________ "Broadsword calling Dannyboy"

i think the autocrft panels are good i have both front and back aprons and frankly i don't think you would be able to tell the difference once painted up.
Also the guy i dealt with there was really helpful. |

Having also seen the Autocraft aprons, I would not let them anywhere near my car. Not only the weak suasage finger pressing, but most people have to cut/chop/weld them to make them fit. Even when painted you can tell a mile away what they are.
I have to also say, that Wolfs rear valence does not completely match the OG one we have in the garage. It is pretty damn close, but the H pressings are a bit on the chunky side and they also seme the bleed into the top edge. Most other Wolf valences I have seen/seen photos of look better, maybe we got a duff one?

it is "swollen" indeed! from your first view everything looks fine untill you try to fit it or look more into detail... |

Digging in an old thread.
I bought the Autocraft rear apron but as I observed in this thread it was "swollen" indeed. So I sold it and trying to find a better.
I am wondering if anyone has bought and installed the Kaefer Nostalgie rear apron? Is it any better than the Autocraft concerning the "H"?
I hoped that Wolfparts would start to make 55-57 aprons but he has no plans doing it in the near future. Pity. |

In general KN only resells other manufacturers low end parts so I'd guess it is AC or worse. |

I didn't know that they are resellers.
Is there anyone else beside AutoCraft that are producing rear aprons for 1955-57 these days? |
