Hi I really need help with my 1984 rabbit gti I can't seem to find and alternator for it any where, side note it's a hatchback that was chopped into a truck not a big fan of that can anyone help me get an idea of how to restore it to a hatchback?

Unless you know how to weld or can pay a bodyshop to weld the back half back on, what other choice do you have?

I would try to find a good un-molested shell from the western/south western states and start there.

Absolutely, the non-AC alternators have a lower amp output & different length pulley. Keep your alternator until you know the new one will work, you might have to swap pulleys. If not, keep the old pulley & fan blade just in case.
