What did you use to add the additional side windows (the 12th and 13th Windows)? |
Donner sections were used. Nobody makes these, when you see a bus being parted these are now one of the first to go due to the conversions being done.

Gotcha, I'm pretty sure Grumpy's Metal started selling the outter clips for that conversion. I'd be interested to see results from purchasing the panel and installing it yourself, versus paying them to install the same panel. |

Probably does not look like I did much but I spent a lot of time grinding welds down and finishing small detail going around and around. I also took the paint off the top and have the bus tarped off for some roof spot blasting (not shown or done yet).

While I am pretty good at body work the first block sand after primer usually tells the story. I was a little worried since the roof was a jigsaw puzzle. The extra time I put into making sure the fit was right paid off. I also re-test fit my sunroof rails, within .001 square. Not by coincidence but not without a lot of time spent. Second coat on ready for fine sanding.
Now to work on the doors, fit the trim, and go over the lower portions. But I feel like I am over the hump!

Thanks Scooby.
Some earlier photos. I bought all Gerson cargo door repair sections, the Autocraft are better. The 4th photo would make you a believer if you saw
the KF version.
I had to change the door locking rod to fit. I had read about this in other posts. In the end everything came out well.

Do you use guide coat in powder or spray can? Man, I've done a lot of bodywork and auto painting on a hobby basis. I used it for the first time when I fixed my rear corner on my bus a month or two ago after the first blocking. WOW.. I was shocked when I put in on after the second coat of primer was applied. It really helped me locate the high and low spots FAST and allowed me to get it really straight and flat.
I'll never block sand without it again. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

Thanks
I do use guide coat. I just don't show all of the steps. Mostly I get the work done, then the photos.
Edit, guide coat in a spray can. |

1st a vintage photo...
Then I am pushing to make progress, but I am busy.
Block sanded the long panel, not many issues now in its second coat. Now I am working on the doors, 1 down 5 including the deck lid to go, wait, apron also...

Nice work!
I'm about to start a similar project... but I have a donor roof from a Samba which was already welded VERY BADLY into a 13W bus 15+ years ago.
It sits 1cm too high (they did not remove the inner roof strengthening sections from the closed roof) and stick welded it. So I will need to redo all of that + trying to fix the original roof since they sliced and welded it to match up with the 1cm too high samba roof.
I aslo plan to convert to high hinge cargo doors (double even ) to make it more a 57 23W look.
You keep the low hinges?
Keep up the good work! will look super once done:-)

Got the RF door blasted, roughed in the body work, and fitting the belt line trim. It is the repo stuff from this site.

I am working on matching tukis in PPG Delfleet Esentials single stage. I spent several hours at two paint shops with no luck. I bought a quart of what was close with the mixing formula and have been adding in green, black, and blue, by the gram on my 1/10th gram digital scale so I can have it remade by the gallon.
I ran out of sun today but I am getting close. This still looks a little too blue in person.
On the left is the match so far, the right is original.

The turkis paint formula turned out fantastic. I got some paint on underneath in order to help seal up the bus. It feels so good to see this moving forward. Next, painting the interior...
