I believe this setup is for testing the pressure in the brake system.

I would like to know what this is for. It's some kind of jig.

It is a heater vent fitting template for an Audi 100

Anyone have an idea how I might be able to fix these? I just picked them up off ebay for what I thought was a really good price ($36) - I wasn't paying close enough attention in my panic'd "buy it now" frenzy to initially realize they had some issues. That came about 10 seconds later.

I've always wanted a pair of these Smile

Anyway - ideas welcome. I am most concerned about the missing "ears" on the end of the pliers, and less concerned about the accordian part between the handles - I assume there's probably a spring in there to keep the pliers in a closed position?

Anyone have the dimensions of the ears?

I had to break out my jeweler's eyeglass and trace the second digit to verify this is VW Tool 654.

Odd that it does not match the following photos: Image 1, Image 2, Image 3.
Can anyone shed light on this?

The 654 tool reminds me of this timing scale.

Interesting observation. I'll see if I can follow up on that.

I have a Matra part # VW 385/55

A U shaped metal clip that is 1.5" x 2.875;" x .5" thick. The three sides are .375" wide.

It is still in the plastic shipping bag, never used.

Not sure what it was used for or how much it is worth today.

Any information would be helpful.

I see 385 listed here in the Tool listing on the site:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/tools4.php

I don't see 385/55 as the listing here appears to less than 55 pieces but regardless of that, you just have a piece of the overall tool set so I do not think it's worth much... maybe $10?

Hello all.
Long time no post.
Good pickings' this easter, as far as matra tooling goes.

Drove an hour to pick this lot up. (Along with the usual home made scrap and stands that come with them).

Here's the colection after some serious cleaning and removal of yellow paint.

Finally after nearly 3 years of activly searching I have a 313 all of my own.

Post clean up.

While it still retains a lot of it's original paint and red lettering. I will be doing a full resto on this.

Here it is post paint stripper

Here's the 309 front beam adaptor showing the same OG paint scheme

Here's the results of this easters toils. I've chosen to focus on the these tools this week. The gearbox 353 support and 77mm ring tool 123a should be interesting.

They're all primed and ready for paint and machine 'blueing' next weekend. This all may seem a little overboard for some tooling that is going to be knocked around, but I like the idea of factory fresh.

Congratulations Fishynos72 I didn't know there were so many alternates to the 313. I had assumed the engine stand was it. What are the others, you implied front beam for 1 I noticed?

One is for the front beam, and then a side mount gearbox bracket. The other 2 are not stamped in an obvious way. I have no idea.

Does anyone out there have a photo or two that they can post up of a VW #309 mounted to a #313 stand with the #309a brackets? What I really want to see is a VW front end assembly actually bolted up to the #309/309a and how that happens.

I have a #308 stand, the #313 head, the #309 front end mount. I don't have the two #309a brackets. I'm just curious how it all works together and would love to see a few photos of those parts in action holding a front end. Looks like the #309a brackets are for Transporter front ends, what is used to hold Beetle front ends (a #309c four piece set)?

I picked up some tools the other day... pretty sure a single 309a was in the bunch. I don't think I have any need for it & will be pushing it out the door in the near future.

Looks like you're getting right into it!! Laughing

If you are the 'full 9 yards /compleat nutjob' like me, Matra painted those tools to DIN1843, that means the paint code is RAL7031- Blue-Grey (be sure to specify finish...all my tools are satin finished). I might also have some spare parts for your VW352(early version for 002, there are two types) which is missing the shackle to hold a bus trans.

Happy painting!! Very Happy

I see the RAL code for Matra 313 grey is RAL7031 but does anyone have the code for the red? Probably same as the general red marking color used in Germany in the 40īs and 50īs, I recall it too has a RAL code.
