Has anyone used a T3 auto in an application that left it exposed to the weather? If so, will the dipstick leak if left out in the rain? The first setup I bought had been used on a trike and had been sitting uncovered for a couple of years, and it had water in the ATF, but the cork pan gasket was also falling apart and it may have seeped in around the edges of that... When you look at the top of the dipstick itself, theres an indention that looks like it could funnel water in if the rubber below doesnt seal it. Wondering if I need to try sealing with a few drops of something like paint or make a cover over it..thanks

Do you mean wear the dipstick tube attaches to the trans, or where you pull the dipstick out of the tube. There is an O-ring where the tube enters the trans. I guess in a heavy rain, it might let a little water in. You could smear some Ultra gray around the joint, and that would seal it. As far as where the dipstick pulls out of the tube, you could put a rubber sheath over it. Get an inner tube from a 27" 10 speed bike, and cut a small section out and stretch over the tube and dipstick. If the 10 speed tube is too large in diameter, go to a bike shop and get one for a "real" road bike, they are much smaller.

I'm talking about at the top of the dipstick itself where the round pull-ring comes out of the top, there's an indention there that looks like it might let in a tiny bit of water in a heavy rain if the rubber below it doesn't seal it, and that rubber looks more like its designed to seal the dipstick to the tube.. I will probably make some kind of little boot like you are talking about, just in case.. I doubt it takes very much water contamination to turn ATF milky Smile
