|
|
So my son Jake is checking out the M plate on his '63 Single Cab tonight and asks me, what do the factory fog lights look like?
I say, good question!
I found a technical bulletin in the archives, showing the fog light mounted on the front bumper and how to install the switch. But, if it is M Coded for fog lights, would that had not been done at the initial build at the factory?
And, does anyone have a set of these Original M coded fog lights on their bus?
thanks!

The M-Code listings on thesamba have M-027 as being either fog lights or pre 1964 windshield washers (Australia)- seem like there is still some doubt out there as to what that code means |

Fog lights on European vehicles were not usually mounted on the front. Those are typically called driving lights. Foglights were normally mounted on the rear bumper, were red and stayed on as a warning to traffic which was behind the vehicle. Because the taillights were relatively dim and brake lights were only activated when slowing, a fog light on the rear was at least as bright as a brake light and could conceivably be seen sooner than dimmer taillights. _________________ "My biggest worry is that when I die, my wife will sell all my parts for what I told her I paid for them"-Jon

cru62: So what you are saying is, these FOGS are on with the tail lights (nighttime running) ? or is it switched? And from what I have seen, it is One single light bumper mounted? I have an American Delux with this code(21 window) and strangely enough, also coded w an Ambulance step. < of course, a Belly-Pan Ambulance step. "64" _________________ kaiser kills kids.com |

In Europe (Germany) you can have the following extra lights besides the standard headlights: (In the early days there were a lot of regional difference)
1. Front fog lights
2. one set of extra high beams
3. one or two fog tail lights.
The fog tail lights are only legal to be used when the visibility is below 50 meters (~50 yards), which also means you are only allowed to drive 50km/h (35Mph)
The front fog lights are legal to be used at low visibility (heavy rain or fog), but not within city limits.
Sorry I don't have any more info on the stock fog lights. _________________ - Michael
