I'm having to replace the front frame rails and nose on my 70 Single Cab, having discovered some previously poorly repaired collision damage. One possible donor is a 72 deluxe walk-thru, which has the early bumper but the new Y-shaped forward frame rails. I like the idea of the stronger frame, and plan to join the new frame rails to my chassis at about the front seat bulkhead area.

Here's my question: is the frame dimension aft of the front beam the same on both buses? I'll transfer my seat supports and put in a new floor. Are there any other issues that may surface?

Thanks!

Dave

That must one awful early 70 if it doesn't have the Y members up front. The frames are the same dimensions until aft of the rear torsion housing, it should fit fine. But you may have to use the 72 beam since yours may have a different mounting pattern.

And in case you don't already know, the inner members of the seat pedestals are part of the frame rails, it's a long lip that sticks up through the floor.

Thanks, Busdaddy, you are very kind to share your knowledge with us all. I had no idea about the seat/frame deal. I'm sure my body man would have glommed onto that, but it's good to know in advance!
