If you look on the first page you'lls eee I have 2 LAte bays. The Type 4 is from the late bay transporter I have. The 68(?) has a type 1 engine in it. Started when parked 2 years ago. hoping it wont be too much work to fire it up again. |

Long time no post. Haven't had a chance to do much work over the past while but I've started up again.
Pulled it into its new work space
Removed some tie rods
Tried to remove the rear bumper but 2 of the mounting bolts just spin. Probably gonna have to cut into the frame to weld the nut back to the frame or grab it with a wrench to remove it.
Debating if I should keep the paint beige or try and remove it back to the original orange underneath. _________________ 69 Transporter

Pulled out my interior to take a good look at the floor. Its not bad, but its not great either...
Sink hole. Looks like the PVC detached from inside the sink drain and water was getting everywhere under the sink.
Fiberglass over the rot at the door track that was developing by the looks of it.
Behind the front seat. More fiber glass and maybe bondo?
Drivers side wall. More fiberglass.
near the fold out bed/bench seat. More fiberglass and a hole right through to the non-existent rockers.
Bit blurry but everything under the bed/bench looks pretty good.
Looks like I have a bit of work cut out for me, literally. _________________ 69 Transporter

There would be 2 paths here:
1. Restore it completely
2. F It and just patch it, get it running, enjoy the heck out of it....a bus can be patched, gnarly looking and still be cool!
Get so much dirt on it, nobody would know anyway! _________________ Subaru |

Did a bit of restoring my table/counter today. Cleaned it up and stretched and de-wrinkled the T molding. Used a kettle and a metal sink, worked great. Gonna give the sink counter another go to get out the the wrinkles even less pronounced.

Just finished up my side cabinet door. Can barely see where the wrinkles were. was able to stretch it out a good 2 inches or so to take up the gap and line up with the hinge holes.

Pulled my gas heater from my bus last night. started test benching it but it got too dark.
Finished the bench testing today, end result is a working BN4 heater!

The 68 is in pretty rough shape, she's on the back burner till I have some more experience in metal work cuz she needs a lot of it! _________________ 69 Transporter
