I've been making these Tag Props for Friends and Customers for years, but never dawned on me that I've never shared with Samba folk..

So here you go.. Never drop, lose, or break your Oil, or Water Caps again trying to use them to prop your tag door open. Or chasing them down a hill as they roll away from you in the darkness.. Rolling Eyes

This pic shows how it's used.. BTW the pink is so you can find it if you drop it, this one a well used demo prop.

Here's How You Make a new one.. Simply use a paint stirrer, cut to about 9 1\4"

Check to be sure it's not to long so it can be stowed..

And this is how you store it away, where it will always be handy and accessible.. On some van's you may have to take a pair of needlenose pliers and widen the tag inspection door fastener a tad.

Also normally the paint stirrer fits snuggly into the fastener, but have had a few that I had to sand the paint stirrer a little..

Best Of Luck to you Enjoy Very Happy

Nice idea.
I have paint sticks by the 1000's.... Literally

I think I'll snag one and give this a try.
I'm really not a fan of the oil cap prop, I've lost them down behind the bumper.

Just remove the springs from the hinges - no props necessary!

I got a tad Anal, I sanded it and Orange Shellaced it....... Hey! If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right..... Right?

This really is SO MUCH BETTER than using the oil cap!

I tell ya, between this simple paint stick mod and my oil funnel modification, adding engine oil will be darn near painless now!

That's great. Especially love that it can be stowed right there at the license plate. Thanks for sharing.

Removing the springs from the hinge isn't a bad idea either.
