84' GL Rear bench seat help!!?

About to lose my mind here! Can anyone tell me what size/pitch bolts are used to bolt the brackets for the rear seat on my 84' GL. These are the top bolts that are used for the folding seat, does not fold flat. I have been to the hardware store and autoparts store. Cannot find the right bolts.

I think 7/16-20 rings a bell.

That size is a standard seatbelt bolt thread. 7/16" with 20 threads per inch. Try a seabelt bolt and if it screws in then that size is right. Yes, the VWs accept an "amercan" size bolt for the seatbelts.

Just saw your post. Are you referring to the bolt in my pic below?

I am missing both. Gone non existent. Any idea what will work to bolt down my bench?
